Some new landscapes finally ...  and it never hurts to have a deadline to to get them done! Just finished them today and submitted them today for the C.M. Russell Museum's 2018 Art Auction - The Russell.

I can definitely see all these abstracts I've been painting as a collective or series
- the main theme being the earthy browns and golds with a touch of bluish-greens.

A few more new abstract pieces - I must say it's interesting to try to not paint something and just let it come intuitively. It's rather exciting to just watch them unfold!

I've Been Experimenting

So lately I've been getting back to the basics of painting - you know: line, form, color, texture. I'm making marks so to speak without trying to represent a specific place or landscape and I must say that I am really enjoying it! And I'm using a whole different set of tools and materials too - instead of brushes I'm using putty knives and scrapers, wall-papering tools anything that makes a mark or scratches and scrapes - also I'm experimenting with cold wax medium with the oil paint and glazing medium with the acrylics. It's a bit challenging to not think of creating a typical landscape I'm used to but its very freeing once I do.

A new painting that will be shown this week for the first time in Altamira Gallery's "Alberta Room" at the Heritage Inn during Western Art Week. This was a scene from a trip to Lewistown, MT a few months ago - pretty happy with the outcome.

Lewistown Art Center - December Show

Through the month of December my new works will be shown in the Wilkins Gallery at the Lewistown Art Center in Lewistown, Montana from December 1st through the 31st.

Western Art Week Fast Approaching

Western Art Week in Great Falls is fast approaching and I'm sure artists everywhere are scurrying about getting ready for it - and actually I am too, kind of, after taking a break from it last year. I do have a painting juried into The Russell Museum's First Strike Friday Auction - Lot #84 so I'm pretty happy with that.
